RUSSELL A. SWAIN, PRESIDENT

Running one of Nevada’s oldest insurance agencies requires a professional team rich in local history and experienced in the insurance industry. The management of GLB Insurance Group of Nevada brings generational insurance experience and long-time Nevada residents together in one leadership team.

According to Russ, the insurance business just runs in the family. He grew up learning about insurance and the surety business from his father, Russell E.(Rusty) Swain, and was given the chance to officially join the business in 1979, when he joined George L. Brown Insurance Insurance Agency just after graduating from high school. He joined the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company as an underwriter trainee in 1981 and worked for the FFIC until 1983. Swain returned to GLB to work with his father, and he became a principal of the firm five years later in 1988. Swain became company president in 2002 and has continued to lead the agency to additional years of steady growth and a notable reputation. Swain assisted personally in the successful merger of both the Holmes Insurance group in 2000 with GLB and Atkin & Prater Insurance in 2004, which formed our current operation known now as “GLB INSURANCE GROUP OF NEVADA” founded by George L. Brown in 1941.  

Swain obtained his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 1997. A respected member of the insurance field, Swain served as President of the Independent Agents of Southern Nevada from 1990-91 and served as the State President of the NIIA from 2007-08, along with many other committee and service commitments in his industry.

Among his numerous efforts in the community, Swain is held in high regard for his continued work with the Las Vegas Rotary Club where he has been an active member since 1994. He was President of the Rotary Club’s “25 Club” in 1995, and served on the Board of Directors for several terms. He was honored by being elected as the President of the Las Vegas Rotary Club, and served in that role from 2008-09. He also served as President of the Executive Development Association in 1997. Swain is also a member of the Nevada Contractors Association, the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, and the Better Business Bureau.

In his free time, Swain enjoys hiking, snow skiing, boating, motorcycles, bird hunting, ATV’s, and spending time with his family….

GARY K. PRATER, VICE PRESIDENT

Gary Prater joined the GLB team in 2004 when his family agency, Atkin & Prater Insurance, merged with George L. Brown Insurance Agency. Hailing from a long history in insurance business, Gary got his start in the family owned and operated insurance business in 1977 and currently serves as Vice President of GLB. With decades of experience in the insurance industry, Gary has adopted a very customer-oriented approach to the insurance business, expressing that clients should always expect personalized, professional service from him and the other GLB team members.

He is aware that the insurance market and coverages are constantly changing, presenting new challenges for both the insurance consumer and professional. With that knowledge, Gary is strongly committed to finding the broadest coverages available for an affordable price.

Gary is currently an active member of the Independent Insurance Agents of America, the Nevada Independent Insurance Agents Association, and the Las Vegas Fremont Rotary Club. Gary attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. When Gary is not in the office, you can find him camping, hunting, fishing or taking part in off-road motor sports.   He also referees and coaches soccer in his free time.

GEOFFREY W. HOLMES

Insurance industry veteran Geoff Holmes is a Principal at GLB Insurance Group of Nevada and has been working in the field since 1986.

Formerly an Account Executive with the agency, Holmes has focused his expertise on varied industries, including construction, manufacturing, wholesale, retail and professional liability. He helps businesses and individuals get the correct amount of insurance for their unique needs.

Holmes, a native Las Vegan, is a Certified Insurance Counselor since 1997. He is a member and Past President of the Las Vegas Fremont Rotary Club, a member of The Nevada Independent Insurance agents and a former president of The Southern Nevada Independent insurance agents.

DIANE PRATER-KELLY

Diane Prater-Kelly started in the insurance industry in 1976 as CSR at New York Life. After joining her father’s agency, Atkin & Prater, Inc., in 1978 as receptionist and accounting assistant, she later became a licensed agent in 1981.

Prater-Kelly continued as accounting/office manager of Atkin & Prater, Inc. as well as producer until the merger in April of 2004 with George L. Brown Insurance Agency where she continues as producer and lends assistance in the continuing success of the merged agencies. Diane went thru the chairs of the IIASN (Independent Insurance Agents of Southern Nevada) becoming one of only three women to hold the position of president in 1991.
