Our History

The rich history of the GLB Insurance Group of Nevada started in 1941 when George L. Brown Jr. founded the agency in Las Vegas. From 1941 to the present, GLB Insurance Group of Nevada has been family owned and operated, and completely focused on customer service. After George L. Brown Jr.’s death in 1952, George L. Brown III assumed the principle role within the agency.

In 1961 Brown III was joined by Russell E. Swain, a well-known professional with an extensive history in the insurance business who garnered both local and national recognition. Several years later his son Russell A. Swain began his career with the GLB team, an additional testament to the family-oriented structure of the agency. Today, with more than 20 years in the business insurance industry, Russell A. Swain serves as the President of the GLB Insurance Group of Nevada.

In 2000 long-time Las Vegan, Geoff Holmes, merged his family-owned insurance agency, Holmes and Caldwell Insurance with GLB Insurance Group of Nevada. Holmes’s father started the family business here in Las Vegas in 1965 and worked there for most of his working life. Geoff assumed a Principal role within GLB Insurance Group of Nevada.

2004 brought another merge for GLB Insurance Group of Nevada when Atkin & Prater Insurance, another family-owned insurance agency with Las Vegas roots, merged with GLB. With the merge, siblings Gary and Diane Prater joined the GLB team. Gary is currently Vice President of GLB Insurance Group of Nevada and Diane is a Principal within the agency.

Michael T. Brown, a third generation member of the founding Brown family, still maintains an active role within the agency.

Although GLB Insurance Group of Nevada has expanded and changed since 1941, its focus on family and tight-knit business structure has remained the same. Even amidst rapid growth, GLB Insurance Group of Nevada has not lost sight of their founder’s vision and the principles that have kept them successful in Southern Nevada.
